On the morning of March 1, at the invitation of Yang Haigang, researcher of the Programmable Chip and System Research Laboratory, Shi Chuanjin, professor of the Electric Engineering Department of University of Washington, visited the institute for an academic exchange. In No. 1007 meeting room of Kedian Building, Shi gave an impressive report entitled “Opportunities, Challenges and Progress of Analog Circuit Automation Design and Verification”. Over 30 workers and students of the institute attended the symposium.

In the report, Shi reviewed the history of the synthesis methodology for analog circuit, elaborated on the demands and difficulties of analog synthesis in modern large-scale system on chip (SOC), and introduced some new methods and progress of the upcoming third wave of analog circuit synthesis as well as researches and EDA tools in this field.

After the meeting, Shi had a heated discussion with the attending teachers and students on such aspects as analog circuit behavior model extraction, automation synthesis, synthesis efficiency and comparison with the existing commercial EDA tools.

This lecture was one of the overseas scholar report series-“International Partners Program for Innovative Teams” undertaken by the Programmable Chip and System Research Laboratory of the institute. This event provided a platform for our scientific and technological workers to keep up to date with the frontier technology of “chip design”, effectively broadened the vision of research work and laid a solid foundation for further exchange and cooperation.
