Professor Richard Bamler

On the morning of May 9, 2012, at the invitation of Microwave Imaging Technique Key Lab, the famous scientist Professor Richard Bamler on Microwave Imaging Technique of DLR came to institute for exchange visit, and did the academic report named “High Resolution Radar Remote Sensing From Space by TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X: Algorithms and Applications”. The report lecture was held by researcher Hong Wen, deputy managing director of No. 1 Lab.

Professor Bamler mainly introduced the research status and the important achievements of DLR in the field of microwave remote sensing. Based on TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X, the two advanced remote sensing satellites for civil use, Professor Bamler respectively introduced the latest developments of remote sensing technology application on building deformation monitoring, city tomography imaging, interference imaging and etc. After the report, Professor Bamler exchanged ideas with teachers and students of Electronic Institute about relevant content of this report and all of them admired from the heart for Professor Bamler’s vivid lecture and his profound knowledge.

This public lecture is the second symposium of 2012 of international partner plan, “advanced microwave diction and information processing”, of Electronic Institute innovative team, and also because of this, Professor Bamler becomes the fourth international partner for exchange visit of this year.

Professor Bamler is an electronics doctor of Technical University of Munich. At the present, he is director of Remote Sensing Institute of DLR and the director of Remote Sensing Department of TUM, who raised the famous imaging algorithm “Chirp-Scaling” and whose research achievements in SAR field is world renowned.
